THE SWALLOW HOTEL Access Statement

  • The Swallow is a Victorian guest accommodation with 7 rooms all of them en-suite. Room 1 is a family  room ( sleeps 3 ) on ground floor, room 2 is a twin and rooms 3 to 7 are double rooms.
  • We are situated a one minute walk from the sea front.   Harbour, town centre, bus and railway station are an max. 10 minutes walk.
  • There is free private parking for 6 cars at the front of the SWALLOW. Free parking is also available alongside Horsforth Avenue.
  • Entry to the front entrance hallway is via two steps each 10 cm in height,  then through the main front door which is of a single leaf type measuring 100 cm wide and 2,25 metres in height, a small hallway 1,20 metres square leads to the inner door which is a glass panelled door measuring 85 cm wide and 2,10 metres high.  The entrance is illuminated during evening and night  and the street is well lit by street lamps.
  • Entrance to dining room leads off the entrance hallway at the bottom of the staircase.
  • Entrance to Room 1 leads off the entrance hallway at the bottom of the staircase.
  • Access to rooms 2 to 7 is via the staircases which have solid wood banister rails.
  • Access to rooms 2, 3 and 4 which are on the first landing area is via a flight of stairs consisting of 10 steps measuring 90 cm wide and 17 cm in height, then a further flight of stairs consisting of 8 steps, all the steps are the same measurement.
  • Access to rooms 5, 6, and 7 which are on the second landing is via a further two flights of stairs, the first has  9 steps and the second  8 steps measuring 90 cm wide and  17 cm in height.
  • All rooms are accessed through fire doors measuring 70 to 75 cm wide and 1,90 to 1,95 metres in height.
  • The staircases and landing areas are well lit by a motion and presence detecting system and have emergency lighting.
  • A fire alarm system is fitted throughout the premises with smoke detectors in all rooms and emergency lighting on all floors.
  • All rooms have their own key and there is no restriction on entry.
  • All rooms have Colour TV  (Sat freeview ) with remote controls and hospitality tray with Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Biscuits and bottled water.
  • All rooms have central heating and upvc windows. All radiators can be controlled individually.
  • All bathrooms are fitted to the highest specification with timed extractor fans (except Room 2 ). Room 2 is with a bath and a fitted handrail.  All other rooms have quadrant showers of generous size. Step into the showers is 23 cm.
  • The décor in the establishment is all good colour contrasting.
